Commercial cover
Business combined
Buildings, contents, stock, liability and loss of income in one policy, built around how your business works.
Who it is for
Shops, offices, workshops, restaurants and small manufacturers that want their main covers in one place with one renewal date.
A combined policy puts the covers most businesses need into one package. It is simpler to manage and often cheaper than buying each cover separately.
The risk is that the policy is set up once and not looked at again. We review your sums insured every year, and we check that the business interruption indemnity period still matches how long recovery would really take.
Usually covered
- Buildings and contents against fire, flood, storm, theft and accidental damage (if chosen)
- Stock, including seasonal increases
- Business interruption: lost gross profit and extra costs while you recover
- Public and products liability
- Employers' liability
- Money and goods in transit (optional sections)
Usually not covered, or needs adding
- Wear and tear, gradual deterioration and poor maintenance
- Theft without forcible entry, unless extended
- Property left empty beyond the policy's unoccupancy limit
- Claims where the sum insured is too low (average may apply)
- Professional advice, cyber incidents and vehicles, which need separate policies
Policies differ between insurers. We will show you the actual wording, limits and excesses before you decide.

Questions
Common questions
Is a combined policy cheaper than separate policies?
Often, but not always. For some trades a specialist standalone policy gives better cover for a similar price. We compare both where it makes sense.
What is an indemnity period?
The maximum time your business interruption cover pays for lost income after an insured event. Twelve months is common, but serious fires often take 18 to 24 months to recover from.
